OSB & Sleep Apnea

Sleep disorders include insomnia, snoring, narcolepsy, restless leg syndrome, and
sleep apnea. Sleep disordered breathing (SDB) includes snoring and obstructive
sleep apnea – both of which occur because of blockage of the airway.
Oral Systemic Balance (OSB) Therapeutics
is of the belief that during sleep, the tongue falls back into the throat and blocks off the airway. If the blockage
is partial, snoring occurs. If the blockage is total (even for brief periods of time), then obstructive
sleep apnea (OSA) results. Typically, a person suffering from OSA stops breathing for short periods of time until
the sensors in his Autonomic Nervous System wakes him up to breathe. He usually wakes up gasping for breath, sometimes
he feels like he had just died, has difficulty falling asleep again, and he does NOT have restful and regenerative sleep.
OSB (Oral Systemic Balance) removable custom-made orthotics are worn during sleep
so that the tongue is elevated back into the throat where it belongs, thus removing the source of blockage in the airway.
